Citrus packing conveyor control system
LocationRiverina NSW
SectorFood & beverage
ScopeDesign · build · program · commission
- The brief
- Control and safeguard a multi-section conveyor system for a citrus packing operation, merging product from two packing lines into a steady, evenly spaced flow for the downstream packaging equipment.
- What we did
- AMC designed and built the control panel in our Griffith workshop, including the PLC, a bank of safety relays for e-stops and guarding, and eight variable speed drives, then programmed and tested it before delivery. The control system manages the timing and traffic across every conveyor section: it meters product in from both sides, controls merging and accumulation, and holds or releases bags so the crate filler is fed a steady, evenly spaced flow without gaps, jams or pile-ups. On site we commissioned the full line, with an operator touchscreen showing every conveyor, sensor, sequence and alarm in plain English.
Outcomes
- Smooth, gap-free feed to the downstream packaging equipment
- Eight independently controlled conveyor drives
- Safety circuits designed to AS 4024
- Operator HMI with line overview, motor status and alarms
- Tested in our workshop, commissioned on site
